How it works

From your kitchen table to a lab result you can understand

Here's exactly what happens at each step, including what we track behind the scenes so you always know the status of your test.

  1. 1. Sign up and order

    pending_payment → paid

Create an account, tell us your state of residence, and pick a plan or a one-time test. Payment is handled by Stripe and processed before anything ships.

  2. 2. Your kit ships

    kit_shipped

A kit is reserved from inventory and mailed in discreet, unmarked packaging. The tube carries a barcode and nothing else — no name, no date of birth.

  3. 3. Register your kit

    kit_shipped

When it arrives, you register the barcode online. This is what links the physical tube to your account, and it's recorded once and never edited — so there's an unambiguous record of what was submitted.

  4. 4. Collect your sample

    kit_shipped

Follow the included instructions to self-collect. You log the collection time, which we check against the panel's stability window — a sample that spent too long in transit gets a replacement kit rather than an unreliable result.

  5. 5. Mail it back

    sample_in_transit_to_lab

Seal the tube and drop it in the mail using the prepaid return packaging, which meets the shipping requirements for a biological specimen.

  6. 6. The lab sequences it

    sample_received_by_lab

A certified partner lab — not MadoHealth — runs the assay. We never see your specimen; they never see your name.

  7. 7. You get the full picture

    results_ready

Every organism on the panel appears in your report, detected or not, with relative abundance and a plain-language summary. Alongside it: exactly what this test cannot tell you. Download the whole thing and take it to your own provider if you'd like to.

This is an informational service, not a medical one. We describe what we find in your sample. We don't diagnose, we don't prescribe, and results take days rather than minutes. If you feel unwell — fever, pain, or anything that worries you — please see a healthcare provider instead of waiting on a sequencing result.
